Telangana Partners with Google to Boost AI Development

On Thursday, Google announced a strategic partnership with the Government of Telangana to leverage the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the state.

IT and industries minister Sridhar Babu mentioned in his LinkedIn post that Telangana is taking a big step in artificial intelligence (AI) by collaborating with Google to drive innovation, support startups, and improve governance.

“Telangana is shaping the future of AI, and our collaboration with Google marks a major leap forward. As one of the AI-first states, we are committed to building a world-class ecosystem that nurtures innovation, empowers startups, and transforms governance,” Babu said.

As part of the partnership, Google for Startups will provide mentorship and accelerator programs to help new businesses grow. This will further strengthen Telangana’s network of over 500 AI startups and more than 80 emerging companies.

Meanwhile, Google for Education will introduce AI training programs to prepare the workforce for future jobs in an AI-driven world. AI will also be used to improve key areas like agriculture, urban transport, and governance.

The state has already attracted $15 billion in investments for AI City, large-scale tech projects, and data infrastructure. 

Telangana looks forward to working with Google to create new opportunities for businesses and people, driving progress in AI and technology across various sectors.

Preeti Lobana, country manager of Google India, stated that the collaboration with Telangana underscores Google’s dedication to India’s digital future. She expressed enthusiasm about integrating the company’s AI expertise with the state’s vision to develop an AI-ready workforce, support startup innovation, and address critical sectors such as agriculture, education, and sustainability.
Meanwhile, Microsoft inaugurated a new 1.2 million-square-foot engineering facility in Hyderabad on Thursday. It will house 3,000 engineers.
