TCS Joins Forces with MassRobotics to Advance Robotics Innovation

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and MassRobotics, a Boston-based independent robotics hub, announced a collaboration on Wednesday to foster robotics innovation across sectors such as retail, travel, transportation, hospitality, and consumer products. 

With this, TCS will have an on-site presence at MassRobotics’ Boston facility, allowing direct collaboration with robotics startups, research institutions, and industry leaders. This positions TCS further in North America. 

The Indian IT services company will offer technical expertise, mentorship, and industry insights to MassRobotics’ community, gaining exposure to emerging robotics trends. 

The collaboration will leverage TCS’ expertise in AI, machine learning, and automation to advance robotics technologies for technical and commercial applications. 

The alliance also aims to address the rising demand for automation across industries. The International Federation of Robotics projects that over 3 million units will be installed worldwide by 2025.

Tom Ryden, executive director of MassRobotics, said, “TCS’ global reach and deep technological expertise will complement our mission to support robotics innovation and create new avenues for growth in industries adopting robotics solutions.”

The collaboration will focus on joint research and development, industry-specific applications, support for early-stage robotics startups, and bridging the gap between research and real-world applications.

The company continues to invest in the future of robotics, positioning itself as a partner for organisations seeking to harness the potential of robotics to address complex business challenges.

The tech giant also announced a project aimed at transforming the development of fragrances, flavours, and health-related products using NVIDIA’s BioNeMo framework, a tool designed to significantly accelerate research by eliminating trial-and-error processes. 

This technology is expected to reduce the research cycle by up to five times.

In its latest Q3 FY25 earnings call, TCS reported that its clients are actively investing in generative AI and agentic AI while building robust data foundations. 

K Krithivasan, CEO and MD, said that the company is working on a project with a client for drug discovery where the customer was able to identify 1,300 molecules and further filter them to 12 molecules.
