Infosys Expands Presence in Assam with New Development Centre

Infosys has established a 230-member Project Development Centre in Guwahati, marking a significant step in Assam’s push to become a major IT hub. The move is expected to boost employment, drive digital innovation, and attract further investment in the region.

Welcoming Infosys to the state, the Assam government reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a thriving technology ecosystem by attracting top-tier firms. With its skilled workforce, expanding infrastructure, and strategic location, Assam is emerging as a preferred destination for IT and software development.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasised the importance of Infosys’ expansion, calling it a milestone that reinforces Assam’s appeal to global tech giants. 

“Assam: India’s Emerging tech hub A warm welcome to @Infosys for beginning a 230 member dedicated Project Development Centre in Guwahati. We are getting ready to welcome many more such blue-chip firms to establish Assam as India’s next tech hub,” Sarma stated on X.

The state has been actively investing in digital infrastructure, startup incubation, and skill development to position itself as a leading player in India’s tech landscape.

Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, recently also announced a significant investment of ₹50,000 crore in Assam over the next five years. This investment will focus on key sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI) and nuclear energy.

Ambani made this announcement at the Advantage Assam Summit 2025, where he emphasised that Assam will become a ‘technological paradise’. He shared that ‘AI’ also stands for ‘Assam Intelligence’.
