BYTES Launches India’s First AI-Powered ADAS for Two-Wheelers

BYTES, a Bengaluru-based startup, is building AI-powered safety systems using cameras to improve two-wheeler safety by predicting and preventing accidents before they happen. 

On Thursday, the company launched a new AI-driven advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) for two-wheelers. BYTES, co-founded by Prakhar Agrawal and Aayush Kumar, aims to enhance road safety through deep-tech innovations in robotics, AI, and autonomous systems.  

BYTES was in stealth mode for months before making the announcement. The company highlights that two-wheelers are involved in 60% of the 50 million accidents globally per year, with human error accounting for 90% of these incidents.  

“We’re building a solution that is economically viable, socially impactful, and globally scalable,” said Kumar in his announcement on LinkedIn.  

The company claims to be committed to enhancing rider safety and experience through innovative products integrating cutting-edge AI, predictive analytics, and dynamic connectivity.

BYTES is backed by IIMB’s NSRCEL (an incubator for startups and entrepreneurs), NVIDIA’s Inception Program for Startups, Microsoft for Startups, and the Wadhwani Foundation.

In 2024, India’s two-wheeler market sold 20.5 million units, which was an all-time record. This was a 16.6% increase from the previous year.

Two-wheelers, the Next Big Opportunity

Previously, during a fireside chat at the VLSID Conference 2025, Ganapathy Subramaniam, managing partner at Yali Capital, emphasised India-centric semiconductor innovations for sectors such as mobility. “Two-wheeler, automobile, it’s our market. Why do we make four-wheeler controllers for our two-wheeler market? It’s a large market,” Subramaniam said.

A few years ago, Israeli company Ride Vision announced a partnership with Indian automotive leader Spark Minda to introduce its Collision Avoidance Technology to the Indian market. 

The system was designed to handle India’s unique road conditions, diverse vehicle types, and complex traffic behaviour.

Uri Lavi, CEO and co-founder of Ride Vision expressed plans to adapt the products to the Indian market. Additionally, Ashok Minda, chairman and GCEO of Minda Corporation, emphasised the role of technology in road safety. 

He expressed that this development aligned with the objective of zero road fatalities set by the union minister of road transport and highways by 2030.

With multiple companies investing in AI-driven safety solutions, the Indian two-wheeler market is witnessing a shift towards technology-driven accident prevention, potentially reshaping road safety for millions of riders.
