Mayya unveiled the game with its mechanics and the created world, which looked very similar to Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima in an Indian setting.

In a landmark moment for Indian gaming, Varun Mayya has unveiled Unleash the Avatar (Project 11A), a game built in India aiming to be of AAA quality for a global audience by Aeos Games. Positioned at the intersection of gaming, cinematic storytelling, and technical innovation, the project promises to elevate India’s presence on the world gaming map.
“The future of content is gaming,” declared the core team behind Unleash the Avatar, in an exclusive document shared with AIM, which aims to blend immersive storytelling with world-class gameplay and visual fidelity.
With this belief, the team has embarked on an ambitious journey to create India’s first high-quality AAA game that can compete with global titles like Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, and Horizon Forbidden West.
In a live demo, Mayya unveiled the game with its mechanics and the created world, which looked very similar to Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima in an Indian setting.
The game is expected to be released by fall of 2026.
Building a Digital Chanderi: The Largest Scan Library Ever Created
What sets Unleash the Avatar apart isn’t just the vision—it’s the unprecedented scale of execution. The team claims to have created the world’s largest scan library for a game, featuring over 1,000 unique scanned assets.
To achieve this, they blocked out an entire town and deployed their video teams to scan, well, everything.
This effort was followed by what they describe as “the most monumental manual cleanup effort,” resulting in an asset library unparalleled in depth and realism. The outcome? The entire city of Chanderi will be recreated in-game, brought to life with authenticity and precision.
A Combat System That Rivals Sekiro
While visual fidelity is key, the team is clear that a game is more than just assets. Unleash the Avatar is being built on an obscene amount of C++ code and will feature “the most satisfying battle loop and boss fights since Sekiro.” This was very visible in the footage of the game which included ‘finishing attacks’ very similar to Sekiro.
This reveals a deep commitment to gameplay mechanics that offer both challenge and reward, especially to fans of action RPGs.
At the heart of the project is an elite team with global experience in both gaming and visual effects:
- Rishi Khanna & Devishree Setti, alumni of Thinktank—ranked #1 worldwide in game design, development, and VFX.
- Hancy Sujay Krishna Verma, whose credits include Antman: Quantumania, Kraven the Hunter, Horizon Forbidden West, Alan Wake Remastered, Hogwarts Legacy, Avowed, and Ghost of Tsushima.
- Divin Muddappa, former VFX artist at DNEG, with projects like Mickey 17, Aquaman 2, Kalki 2898, and LIFT under his belt.
- Pari Thiruvengadam, Rohan Mayya (ex-YC, Aeos), Vishal Gali (ex-20ms Studios, Aeos), and Dhiraj Patil (ex-Masala Games) complete the leadership.
Supporting them is a dedicated group of 30+ full-time and part-time staff.
With this lineup, the Unleash the Avatar team confidently states, “We now know 100% of how to make a AAA game, and have the full core team.”
While confident in their technical and creative abilities, the team remains candid about the unpredictable nature of commercial success. “We are humble enough to recognise that nobody can predict commercial success, but foolish enough to try.”
Mayya wants Unleash the Avatar to be more than just a game. It’s a statement that this is the new benchmark for Indian games. A statement that India is ready to play on the world stage, not just as a market, but as a creator of cutting-edge, culturally rich, and globally appealing games.
