12 days of OpenAI begins with a bang!
OpenAI is likely to launch a $200 ChatGPT Pro plan. This plan consists of all the features in the Plus plan and access to the additional o1 Pro mode, which is said to use ‘more compute for the best answers to the hardest questions’.
Furthermore, the plan is set to offer unlimited access to o1, o1-mini and GPT-4o along with the advanced voice mode. Users on X were quick to spot the leak. In another instance, users noticed a message ‘Limited preview of the GPT 4.5 model” in the front-end JavaScript code in the ChatGPT Teams plan.

— Tibor Blaho (@btibor91) December 5, 2024The leak also spots the highly anticipated, full version of the o1 reasoning model, which has kept fans on their toes weeks for now.
It seems that no detail was left behind in the leak, and users even spotted a pricing adjustment for ChatGPT Plus users. Apparently, updating to ChatGPT Pro from the Plus version will offer credit on a pro-rata basis for the remaining time in your subscription.
— ChrisUniverse 🗽 (@ChrisUniverseB) December 5, 2024That said, there have been several open source models contending for the top spot over the last few days, especially the ones from China, the DeepSeek R1 Lite, and AIibaba’s Qwen 2.5 . A user on X, reacted to the leak and said, “If it’s true that there will be a $200 plan, I don’t see a future for it because we now have many open-source tools.”
Ever since Sam Altman announced the ‘12 Days of OpenAI’ feature drops, demos, and model announcements, all eyes have been on the AI giant to see what’s in store for users. These leaks have only amplified the excitement. Guess there is a fair bit of compensation for an uneventful second birthday of ChatGPT.
The company also announced that ChatGPT has 300 million weekly users and sends over one billion messages every day. Interestingly, a few reports surfaced a few months ago that stated OpenAI’s plan to raise the price of ChatGPT to $22, a $2 increase by the end of this year. While there isn’t any information yet regarding a pricing increase of the Plus plan, it may still be part of their plans.
Apart from their standard text-based models, another highly awaited announcement is their text-to-video generation model, the Sora. It was released earlier this year but isn’t available for use yet. We also saw a sneaky preview, apparently leaked by a set of beta testers, and the API was available on Hugging Face before the page was taken down.
