Google launched its latest experimental AI model, Gemini-Exp-1121, on November 21, 2024. Accessible through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio, the model provides developers and researchers with a platform to explore its advanced features. As an experimental release, it is intended primarily for testing and feedback rather than production use.
The model has reached the top of lmarena.ai’s (formerly lmsys.org) Chatbot Arena rankings, tying with OpenAI’s GPT-4o. It shows a 20-point improvement in performance.

These improvements build upon the strengths of its predecessors, potentially offering more sophisticated solutions to complex problems across various domains.
This release follows the success of Gemini-exp-1114, which recently made waves by outperforming competitors in several crucial benchmarks. The experimental Gemini versions have been demonstrating impressive capabilities in areas such as mathematical problem-solving, creative writing, and image comprehension.
The Gemini series is central to Google’s AI strategy, featuring models like Gemini 1.0, Gemini 1.5 Pro, Gemini 1.5 Flash, and Gemini 1.5 Flash 8B, which process and integrate text, code, audio, images, and video. Google also plans to release Gemini 2 soon.
