During the Q3 FY25 earnings call, Wipro chief Srini Pallia said that the company will actively explore the applications of agentic AI in various sectors, including customer service and supply chain management, in the coming quarters.

The company reported a net income of $392.0 million, a 4.5% increase QoQ and 24.5% YoY. The operating cash flow stood at $576.4 million, amounting to 146.5% of net income.

“Agentic AI can disrupt how processes work, how visibility is managed, and how contact centres operate. It’s an exciting time in the next three to six months. So far, AI has been focused more on personal productivity, but now we’re moving away from that. Agentic AI can be revolutionary,” Pallia said.

He added that Wipro is now an early adopter of agentic AI, which can deliver impactful results for its clients. “While many applications are still experimental, we see use cases emerging in areas like customer service and supply chain, to name a few,” he said.

In this quarter, Wipro’s strong focus on AI resulted in deals worth $1 billion. “We closed 17 large deals with a total value of $1 billion. We are advancing steadily and investing decisively to lead our clients in an AI-driven future,” Pallia said.

The company noted that AI-led approach has driven growth across various industries, particularly engineering, digital infrastructure, and application services.

The company won several large deals driven by its AI-powered offerings, including a contract with a US-based health insurance company for an AI-enabled “Payer-in-a-box” solution that integrates healthcare services. This solution will streamline enrolment processing, billing, and payment, using AI to enhance accuracy and speed.

Moreover, Wipro has also been selected by a US-based pharmaceutical firm to enhance the productivity and efficiency of its HR functions. It will use generative AI to optimise HR operations, improve the accuracy of information sharing, and boost employee engagement with HR systems.

“We will continue to onboard between 2,500 and 3,000 freshers each quarter. While there may be quarterly variations, our plan is to onboard a total of 10,000 to 12,000 freshers every fiscal year,” said Pallia.

Meanwhile, the company has deployed an AI-powered Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) solution for a Canadian automotive manufacturer, improving sales team efficiency by 30%.

In line with this, Wipro also secured a partnership with a global technology company to develop a cutting-edge silicon platform for mixed-reality products for mixed reality platforms.

“We will work with the client to develop a silicon chip to deliver high performance at low power consumption, which is the need of the industry today,” said Pallia.

Beyond new business wins, Wipro is committed to investing in AI talent. 50,000 of its employees now hold advanced AI certifications.

Speaking of small language models, Pallia said that the company has built Lab45 AI Platform, where any of its clients can implement small language models. “I don’t think you want to build LLMs or SLMs to that extent because we want to leverage what is there. We’ve got partners through which we’re going to do that,” he added.

For the quarter ending December 31, 2024, Wipro reported marginal revenue growth of 0.1% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), reaching $2,608.9 million and surpassing the upper end of its revenue guidance.

Despite the revenue fluctuations, Wipro achieved an operating margin of 17.5%, marking a 0.7% improvement from the previous quarter and the highest in 12 quarters.

What about other IT Giants?

Infosys also posted strong financial results for Q3 FY25, highlighting the importance of generative AI. “In generative AI, we have built four small language models for banking, IT operations, cybersecurity, and broadly for enterprises in generative AI,” CEO and MD Salil Parekh said. He added that the company is developing over 100 new agents for its clients, many of which are already in use.

On the other hand, HCLTech is advancing its generative AI (GenAI) strategy. The company announced during its Q3 FY25 earnings call that it aims to integrate AI services into 100 clients by FY26. HCLTech said that over 20 clients have already adopted its AI Force platform, and it plans to scale significantly in the coming years.

“We have a plan to infuse AI and generative AI across all the services that we deliver, which is what we call a service transformation program. Our goal is to roll it out to 100 clients by the end of FY26,” HCLTech CEO & Managing Director Vijayakumar C said.

Similarly, TCS reported that its clients are actively investing in generative and agentic AI while building robust data foundations. The company is also working on drug discovery and AI agents for its clients.
