Uber Opens Waitlist for Waymo Rides in Austin Ahead of Launch

Uber Technologies Inc. has set up a waitlist for customers interested in requesting a driverless Waymo vehicle in Austin, ahead of a planned launch later this year.

Customers in Austin can join an “interest list” in the Uber app starting Wednesday to receive updates about the upcoming launch and increase their chances of being matched with an autonomous vehicle, the company said in a statement Wednesday ahead of its fourth-quarter earnings results. Uber had said last fall that it will be the sole app offering Waymo rides in Austin and Atlanta starting in early 2025.
