Saheli will facilitate effective learning opportunities for children aged three to six, with the aim of nationwide adoption in government-run Anganwadis and preschools.

At the 10th edition Google for India event, Rocket Learning, the edtech platform, announced that it is collaborating with Google to launch a new Fellowship called Saheli, an AI-powered study companion delivered as a web application.

The initiative is aimed at developing a personalised AI tutor for underserved children. It is designed to make early childhood education interactive and tailored to each child’s understanding and pace. This tool will facilitate effective learning opportunities for children aged three to six, with the focus on nationwide adoption in government-run Anganwadis and preschools.

Designed to  adapt to each child’s individual needs, Saheli offers personalised and engaging educational experiences to help nurture a passion for  learning.

“We’re thrilled to receive funding and pro bono support from Google.org to enable all children in India to reach their fullest potential and boost their collective IQ.” said Vishal Sunil, CTO and Cofounder at Rocket Learning. “With the support of the Fellows, we are eager to deepen our understanding of personalised learning’s impact and are committed to making quality early education accessible to every child.”

Rocket Learning is one of the Indian organisation to receive Google.org’s Fellowship support. A $1.5M grant from Google, awarded as part of the AI for Global Goals Impact Challenge, has already empowered Rocket Learning to create an AI/ML system capable of automatically grading over 50,000 homework images daily with 90% accuracy. This has enhanced engagement and personalised learning for 3 million children across 10 Indian states.

Expanding across India, the system is currently benefiting 3 million children, with a target of reaching 50 million users in the next five years. The company claims that 80% of children in the program achieve school and life readiness by the age of six.

“Rocket Learning’s audacious vision is to offer this technology open source as a state of the art Gen AI use case for government systems to adopt as part of Digital India. Parents and educators are hungry for an AI buddy to help them help their children, and India can become a global leader in fulfilling this need” said Namya Mahajan, Co-Founder of Rocket Learning.

Rocket Learning’s purpose is to ensure that every child in India is ready for school and life by providing quality preschool education. The company harnesses technology to empower caregivers—both parents and educators—supporting early stimulation and holistic development for every child during this vital period.
