It will be one of their biggest acquisitions yet.

Google’s parent company Alphabet has agreed to acquire startup Wiz for $32 billion in an all-cash transaction.

By acquiring Wiz, Google Cloud will improve its security tools, allowing businesses to better automate and scale their cybersecurity efforts.

This will be one of Google’s biggest acquisitions yet, following its $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola in 2011.

Wiz’s offerings will remain accessible on all major cloud platforms. Alphabet anticipates finalising the acquisition in 2026, pending regulatory approvals.

“From its earliest days, Google’s strong security focus has made us a leader in keeping people safe online. Today, businesses and governments that run in the cloud are looking for even stronger security solutions, and greater choice in cloud computing providers,” said Google CEO Sundar Pichai in a company statement.

Assaf Rappaport, Yinon Costica, Roy Reznik, and Ami Luttwak, who were also the founders of Adallom, established Wiz in January 2020.

By November 2024, Wiz had a workforce of approximately 1,995 employees, with its sales and marketing teams primarily spread across North America and Europe, while its engineering operations remained concentrated in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Wiz provides a platform that scans cloud environments—such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud—for security risks, helping organisations identify and resolve vulnerabilities in their cloud infrastructure.

“This is an exciting moment for our company, but an even more important one for customers and partners, as this acquisition will bolster our mission to improve security and prevent breaches by providing additional resources and deep AI expertise,” said Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport.

The integration will help reduce security management costs, protect against emerging AI-related risks, and improve security across multiple cloud environments.

Business Insider reports that Google’s $32 billion acquisition could serve as a significant test of the regulatory landscape during the Trump administration, with Vice President JD Vance pushing for stricter dealmaking regulations.
