EY, a global leader in professional services, has launched the EY.ai Global AI Advisory Council. Computer scientist Sunita Sarawagi from IIT is among its members.
This council aims to deliver key insights into AI advancements, societal impacts and innovative applications, enabling the global EY network and its clients to remain at the forefront of AI developments.
Rakesh Kaul Punjabi, Partner and AI Activation Leader, EY India, said, “At EY, we are not just adapting to the future of AI, we are shaping it to create meaningful impact for our clients, people, and communities.”
Sarawargi is currently the professor in charge of the Center for Machine Intelligence and Data Science (CMInDS) at IIT Bombay. She was the winner of the 2019 Infosys Prize in Engineering and Computer Science. She’s also the recipient of the H.H Mathur Excellence Award in Applied Sciences.
What will the EY Global AI Advisory Council Achieve?
The council will guide EY professionals in navigating and leading advancements in AI, addressing emerging challenges and driving adoption.
Experts from business, government and academia will provide counsel across diverse areas, including customer experience, talent management, human behaviour and industry impact.
The council will guide EY and its affiliates in advancing AI development and deployment by leveraging emerging technologies, identifying breakthroughs, and mitigating risks. It will support EY professionals in helping client organisations adopt AI effectively, evaluate its industry-wide and sector-specific applications, and drive transformation.
Additionally, the council aims to harness AI to address global challenges such as climate change, healthcare, education, and bridging the digital divide, while ensuring equitable access for marginalised communities and mitigating societal risks.
In September 2023, EY launched the AI platform “EY.ai” and invested US$1.4 billion to solidify its position as an AI-powered business. EY.ai unifies human capabilities and AI. Following this, on 1 July, EY launched “All in” the EY global strategy.
