The National AI Factory will be accessible to public institutions, academic players, and businesses.

Eviden, an Atos Group company, has secured a €50m contract with Serbia’s Office for IT and eGovernment to establish a National AI Factory in the country. The project will seek to expand Serbia’s AI capabilities through the development of a Centre of Excellence and supercomputing infrastructure. The initiative is designed to strengthen AI deployment across key sectors, utilising European technology to enhance Serbia’s digital autonomy.
According to a company statement, the National AI Factory will serve as a centralised hub providing access to shared AI resources, including computing hardware, software tools, technical expertise and specialised personnel. The facility will be accessible to public institutions, academic players, and businesses, offering support for the development and deployment of AI-driven solutions across sectors such as healthcare, energy, transportation and public administration.
AI Factory to operate on advanced supercomputing system
The AI Factory will be equipped with the BullSequana XH3000 supercomputer, produced by Eviden at its flagship site in France. The system will offer up to 25 PetaFlops of computing power, incorporating 300 GPUs and 2.5 Petabytes of storage capacity. The AI supercomputer will form the core infrastructure of the AI Centre of Excellence, delivering the computing capacity required to develop and execute AI use cases.
The project will also include Eviden’s BullSequana AI software environment, which includes tools to accelerate AI application development. This environment will also integrate generative AI models from Mistral AI for advanced use cases.
In addition to hardware and software resources, the project will leverage AI expertise from Eviden teams in France, the Czech Republic and Serbia.
“This partnership with Eviden, Europe’s leading supercomputing and AI player, is a historic moment for our country’s digital future, demonstrating the spirit of Franco-Serbian cooperation,” said Office for IT and eGovernment director Mihailo Jovanovic. “It is not just a technological leap but a statement of our commitment to foster innovation, advanced our economy and strengthen our position as regional leader in AI. This project is a key step towards implementing Serbia’s vision in accordance with ‘Leap into the Future – Serbia 2027’ Program and plans for further modernisation, digitalisation, and the application of AI.”
Atos founded Eviden in 2023 from the Big Data and Cyber Security, Digital and Cloud divisions. The company now operates in more than 47 countries.
Last month, Atos secured a £150m contract with the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to overhaul its service desk and end-user services. The contract spans five years and will incorporate AI, machine learning and automation to improve operational efficiency.
Recently, Atos also implemented a generative AI capability into the Selartag cellar management platform. Developed with Amazon Bedrock in six months, the new feature reduces listing creation time by 90% and increases data completeness, streamlining inventory processes for wine professionals.
