“Can you imagine writing code with no internet? It’s kind of crazy!” Amjad Masad was always fascinated by the idea of the internet and how you are connected to a database of knowledge that can help you out. He was in the 10th grade and frustrated about having to walk to a cafe, pay for the internet, and then find solutions for his problem within a tight time frame.
That’s where his journey to making coding easier began.
With experience of working at Yahoo, Facebook, and Codecademy, Masad decided to start Replit, and the journey to building one of the most-loved AI developer platforms has been nothing short of fascinating. Masad’s love for developers has been evident in his goal of making Replit accessible to all developers on their phones, while also keeping it open source.
Most recently, the team introduced Replit Agents, which have taken the world by storm doing away with the need to write code. “AI is incredible at writing code. But that’s not enough to create software. You need to set up a dev environment, install packages, configure DB, and, if lucky, deploy. It’s time to automate all this,” said Masad, clearly showing his vision for the future.
