Vinod Dham (Padma Bhushan – Science & Engineering, USA)

“Father of the Pentium Chip” – Pioneering Semiconductors & AI Hardware
Vinod Dham, a semiconductor visionary, played a key role in developing Intel’s Pentium processors, which revolutionized computing. His contributions laid the foundation for modern AI chips and processors, which power AI-driven cloud computing and edge devices today. His Padma Bhushan recognises his lasting impact on computing and semiconductor technology, which continues to evolve with AI acceleration.
Sethuraman Panchanathan (Padma Shri – Science & Engineering, USA)

Prashant Prakash (Padma Shri – Trade & Industry, India)

A Growing Trend: AI and Tech Leaders in the Padma Awards
Historically, the Padma Awards have occasionally recognised AI pioneers, such as: Raj Reddy (Padma Bhushan, 2001) – One of the earliest AI researchers, known for his contributions to speech recognition and robotics.
Sankar Kumar Pal (Padma Shri, 2013) – A machine intelligence expert who made significant contributions to pattern recognition and fuzzy logic.
